So summer is over, although it felt like summer today at 27 degrees!
I know it has been a while since updating Eli’s blog. He keeps Chris and I very busy!
I am not sure if it comes with being 2, but Eli has turned into quite the klutz! Of course there is the falling down, bumping his head, running into things. But in the last two days he has also fallen down the stairs (thank goodness we live in a bi-level so it was only about 6 stairs). I was only a step ahead of him. I was carrying popcorn down the stairs for us and I guess he was a little excited and misjudged the top step. Well, I heard the noise and saw him coming but it happened so fast I thought he was just walking fast down the stairs. Then he landed at the bottom on his hands and knees. I was worried he was hurt but he got up and after some cuddles and kisses, he soon remembered why we were going down the stairs in the first place. POPCORN! So that was last night. This morning he was running into the kitchen with socks on and he wiped out (too slippery I guess) and he fell. He seemed okay until I picked him up and saw the blood. It looks like his bottom tooth went through his top lip. It was bleeding pretty good and is now swollen. I put some ice on it and gave him some gummy bears and he seems fine now. Poor guy! The new rules are (for now anyway) Mommy or Daddy has to hold his hand going down the stairs and no socks in the house! I am going out to look for some slippers for him tonight.
Eli is sounding more like a big boy now then a baby. His language is unbelievable. His vocabulary is growing everyday. He is talking in full sentences more. Some of the things that come out of his mouth really surprise Chris and I,things that we had not heard before etc. And he has such a good memory. The other day I was driving through the royal bank drive through and out of nowhere Eli says to me “Mommy chocolate donut now”. I said to him “Do you want a donut?” And he says “yes, chocolate one.” What a kid! Where did that come from?
He is playing by himself and using his imagination a lot now. We put him to bed one night and he stayed up for an hour and a half talking to the pictures on his wall and playing hide and go seek with them. I printed out a few pictures of his favorite characters and taped them to his wall by his bed such as The Wiggles, In the Night Garden, Nemo and Thomas the Train. Well, Chris peeked and in saw him covering his eyes and counting “one, two, three, seven, nine, ten….ready here I come!” Then he was pointing to each character on the wall saying “kiss you and kiss you and kiss you….” So cute!
Our little man has started swimming lessons now. He goes once a week for half an hour. The first night we went I realized that the pool is quite cold! Even the instructor wears a wet suit! For almost the whole time in the pool Eli would point to the hot pool saying “ot pool now.” Poor kid. He was shivering and when the instructor wanted him to lie on his back with his head on my shoulder and float, his little legs were curled in a ball in front of him and he was not budging. He is getting better now. After the lesson we take him into the hot pool for about ten minutes. And after it is time to go he knows it is jelly bean time! They have a little 25 cent candy machine there. That is his treat/bribe to get him out of the hot pool. When he sees other kids getting out of the hot pool he says, “hot pool all done now. Jelly beans.” I guess he thinks all kids get jelly beans when they are done swimming.
He is just growing up too darn fast. He is still my baby though. Although when I tell him that, he says “Ee-why big boy!”
That is all for now!
