9 months old...a day in the life.

So while in Mexico, I turned 9 months old! So what does a 9 month old like me do these days? Well, I don't want to brag or anything, but I am quite the crawler now. I am pretty fast and keep Mommy and Daddy on their toes. But crawling is so yesterday as now I would much rather be pulling myself up onto things. My favourite is the t.v. I like to be really close and pull myself up and try to touch my favourite cartoon characters. But I will really pull myself up onto anything I can; the coffee table, ottoman, patio door, dishwasher, oven door, crib and Mommy and Daddy when they are on the floor. Mommy thought it was time to get me a learning table so I can play standing up and I sure do love it. It makes me feel like such a big boy!

I have also cut my second tooth, my bottom front left tooth. Neither have fully come in yet. Sometimes when I am feeding myself, I will bite my finger a little too hard which makes me very upset. Speaking of food, I have become quite the carb addict! I love crackers, toast, bagels, pancakes, french toast and baked potato. I have also started to walk a few steps while holding onto fixed objects and just the other day I moved from the coffee table to the couch. It was a big stretch but I did it! I have become quite interested in my puppy Berkley's food bowl as well. So interested in fact that Mommy had to pry a piece of Iams kibble from my mouth. Ewww...I know. But how was I supposed to know I wasn't supposed to eat it? Oh and forget spending money on those fancy schmancy water tables at Toys-R-Us, I discovered my own in Berkley's water bowl.

So since I have decided to share Berkley's food, he has decided my food is not so bad either and has found the perfect spot at lunch time. At least this saves Mommy and Daddy from getting the vacuum out after each meal!

As I am more mobile now and trying new things everyday, I seem to be falling quite a bit. Mommy and Daddy are often finding bumps and bruises on me. But it hasn't slowed me down at all. I am just so curious about the world around me. I love to see how far I can push myself. How else am I supposed to learn right?

And as far as my 9 month statistics, I now weigh in at 20 lbs 13 oz and am 28 3/4 inches tall. Carbs will do that to you!

And last but not least, here is my Mommy and I today. I just love that I get to spend every day with her. We always have so much fun!

Thanks for looking!

Lots of love,

Eli

Hola!

Well, I am back from Mexico! Did you miss me? I bet you have! You must have been having withdrawals as it has been a while since I updated my blog. That is Mommy's fault. She SAYS she has been busy, but c'mon, all she has to do is take care of me all day long. How busy can she be right?

Mexico was fantastic! I had so much fun not only being in a tropical paradise, but being surrounded by the people I love. My favourite part was the beach as I just love the sand and played in it a lot! My not so favourite part I have to say was the ocean. Mommy and Daddy thought I would like the ocean as I had already seen it in California and didn't mind it. But on the first day we arrived, Mommy put me down on the beach and I crawled right for the ocean. Well, you think someone would have warned me about the waves. I got the tail end of a wave in my face and boy did I cry! After that, I was scared to go near the ocean and would often shake my head back and forth when someone tried to bring me near it.

Okay, so rewind a bit. The trip there was pretty uneventful. We had to get up super early and arrived at the airport at 3:30 am! Mommy and Daddy thought they would put me in the car seat and I would fall back to sleep, but oh no, I was too excited and didn't nap again until around 6:00 am on the plane. I was so comfortable having a little snooze on Auntie Jennny but apparently I was not in the proper position for take off and had to be moved. This of course made me very upset. The rest of the trip was okay. We had lots of foot room as we were at the front of the plane so I got to play on the floor.

The resort we stayed in, the Riu Jalisco, was very beautiful. Along with the beach, I also quite enjoyed the buffet, especially at breakfast time. I think I ate french toast and pancakes every day for breakfast. (I don't understand why Mommy doesn't make it for me every day at home!?) And the fresh fruit was yummy. I also really liked the kids pool. Grandpa Joe took me down the slide which I didn't really like as I got very wet! But I loved lounging in my pool floaty Mommy bought me. It even had a sun shade. I could stay there all day! I even made an appearance in the adult pool once in a while. (Of course that was preferred by the adults as it had the swim up bar!) The nightly entertainment I could do without though. I would take Treehouse over that any day. Mommy and Daddy were very happy with how well I did on vacation. We would go about our day and when I was tired, I would nap in my stroller. I was pretty happy for the most part. And when I had enough of something, I would let everyone know it.

Now, the reason for this vacation was Uncle Darryl and Auntie Michelle's wedding. Unfortunately though I missed it as it was right smack in the middle of my nap time. So while everyone else was enjoying the wedding, I was in a corner under a palm tree in my stroller snoozing away. I guess the pictures will have to do. Sorry Uncle Darryl and Auntie Michelle...and congratulations! Even though I did not get to see the wedding, I still gained a great Auntie out of it.

All in all it was a great vacation. It was nice to get away for a week of fun, sun and relaxation. I am already planning my next vacation. Hmmm...where to next?

Love Eli

Brought to you by the letter "C"

Since starting to crawl, I am discovering new things every day! One thing I am very interested in is Daddy's collection of CD's. They are all nicely organized on a shelving unit, or should I say, WERE all nicely organized on a shelving unit. My favourite thing to do now is see how fast I can disorganize them. I think Daddy has given up keeping them in alphabetical order.

And since we are going to be in Mexico for Easter, Mommy and Daddy decided to give me an early Easter present, my new best friend Jerome. He is a Cabbage Patch Kid and I sure love him. As soon as Mommy showed him to me I got this big smile on my face. I think we are going to be great friends!

That's all for now. I won't be updating my blog for a couple of weeks as this Saturday I am going to Mexico for a week for Uncle Darryl and Auntie Michelle's wedding. I can't wait! Lots of my family will be there and I am excited to see everyone. I am also happy that I am finally getting over my bronchitis. I have just a bit of a cough left but I am feeling much better. Just in time for the trip! Thanks for all your well wishes.

Have a Happy Easter everyone. Talk to you soon.

Big wet kisses,

Eli

Bronchitis

Yep, I have bronchitis and I am not a happy camper. Mommy and Daddy noticed me coughing on Monday March 26 and then the runny nose started. It seemed to get worse on Tuesday so Mommy took me to the doctor's to have me checked out. She was worried as we were supposed to fly to Regina on Wednesday with Auntie Jennifer and cousins Ashley and Jordan. The doctor said I have bronchitis and maybe an ear infection and put me on antibiotics. Mommy decided it would be best to not go to Regina. She didn't want to expose me to my cousins and thought some much needed rest at home would be best. Mommy and I were really looking forward to going to Regina. Mommy promised we could do it another time though.

I have been coughing quite a bit which in turn makes me really angry and often I start to cry. It is no fun being sick! Last night was a rough night. I usually sleep best propped up on some pillows in Mommy and Daddy's bed so last night I slept with Mommy in her bed and Daddy slept in the spare room but I was pretty restless and my coughing kept waking me up. We had a humidifier in the room and it didn't really seem to help. So no one really got much sleep last night. I seem to be the worst in the morning and the evening/night time. I hope I am better soon. I feel just miserable and am such an unhappy boy! Mommy took some pictures of me in my time of misery, which Daddy did not like. Thanks for sticking up for me Daddy.

Please send healthy vibes my way : )

Hugs and Kisses,

Eli

8 Months Old!

8 months old...and so many new experiences! First things first, I now weigh a whopping 20 lbs. Okay, it is not that big. I am only up 1/2 a pound since last month but I am still growing. I am also about 28 inches long. I say about because Mommy has a hard time measuring me as I am so wiggly. So we will just go with that. My diet has expanded to include things such as yogurt, cottage cheese, egg yolks, toast, crackers, cheerios and fruit pieces. I have even tried ice cream, although it is not a daily staple unfortunately. I also like to drink water out of my sippy cup now but I especially like to drink it out of Mommy's glass. Mmmm....

So on March 12, I turned 8 months old. Two days later, I started crawling! I had been getting up on my hands and knees and rocking back and forth for some time. Then one day, I just started to move! Mommy witnessed this huge milestone. She was so excited...and so was I. Finally, freedom! Well, almost. One of the first things I did was I crawled up to the t.v. stand and started banging on the glass. Mommy thinks I had my eye on it for quite some time as I seemed to know right where I was going. Ever since that day, I haven't looked back. I love to venture into the kitchen now and play with my magnetic toy farm on the fridge or just scoot along the linoleum. I also love to crawl underneath my jumperoo, play with the vents and look out the patio door. By the end of the days my knees are often red and I have experienced my first rug burn on the top of my little toes. Check me out. I'm I not the best crawler you have ever seen?

Two days after I started crawling I got my first tooth! It is my front right tooth. It has not come in all the way yet but Mommy and Daddy say they can see and feel the tip of it poking through my gums. I was not a happy camper the night it came in but it is not really bothering me anymore. If you look closely in the picture, you can see it!

And, the day after I got my first tooth, I was able to go from my belly into a sit. Of course Mommy and Daddy did not actually see me do this. Mommy had put me on my belly and then she let Berkley outside. When she turned around, a mere seconds later, I was sitting on my bum smiling at her! Hee hee...I am pretty tricky! She has not seen me do it since.

Since I have now mastered the crawl, why not try and pull myself up onto things? I can get onto my knees while pulling myself up onto the t.v. stand (my favourite!), my crib railing while inside the crib, the computer tower, the glass patio door, closet doors...just about anything. But that is as far as I can go at the moment; up on my knees. I am so close to actually standing! I will have to keep practising I guess.

Well, that is all for now. Thanks for sharing with me all of my new and exciting experiences!

Hugs and kisses,

Eli
